True Crime New York City Ati Radeon Patch
Well to adress the major problem first, I installed True Crimes: NYC on my computer. OK, so when I run it, usually when I try to load the profile, create the profile, or when it is saving the profile it will crash my computer. I will get a blue screen. Something about 'Page Fault in a Non Paged Area'. I doubt it's a memory problem due to the fact that all my specs are far above the required.
If I launch the game on my High-Performace GPU (Radeon), I don't get the road textures yet my FPS is above 60. I have been incredibly lucky with my latest ATI purchase in that true Crime NYC actually works with it ( 7970 ), but neither my 6850 or 5770 would display the road textures in any driver.
The thing I was wondering about though, is that I have a new ATI Radeon x1600 PRO that I bought, but that specific series isn't listed in their compatable GFX cards (though x800, and 850 are listed). So I was wondering if that could be the problem. The next issue is that, I have a Saitek Gamer's Keyboard (which has a command pad attachment.) The thing is, the game reads the command pad attachment as the main keyboard. So basically I just attached a PS2 keyboard as a temporary solution.
I know this is keyboard specific, so I don't know if any of you can help me w/ this one. Edit: More specifically, I just ran it again after recalling that the dll that crashed the system began with 'ati'. So the full dll name is 'ati3duag.dll'. I recently decided to get this brilliant game on my PC after I had not played it in years and I no longer owned a PS2. Installation went perfectly, no problems.
True Crime New York City Ati Radeon Patch
The game launches and I can play. One Issue I have noticed is I don't have any road textures at all. A quick google search found that its a problem with switchable graphics which I've got on my laptop.
If I launch the game on my High-Performace GPU (Radeon), I don't get the road textures yet my FPS is above 60. Yet, if I launch it on my power-saving GPU (Intel chip), I get the road textures but my FPS stay's around 20-25. Surely there's a way to get these road textures working on my Radeon? I really want to play this game again but driving on thin air will eventually piss me off. Any help is appreciated. I'm on Windows 7 64bit EDIT: Not my video, but this is exactly the issue I'm having: Edited August 19, 2012 by Harper.
I spent ages trying to sort this issue out myself, there is no real solution sadly. The games pretty much doomed not to work properly with most ATI cards. A lot of people point towards Windows 7, but there is plenty of people with Windows 7 who have the game running just fine, usually Nvidia Cards I have been incredibly lucky with my latest ATI purchase in that true Crime NYC actually works with it ( 7970 ), but neither my 6850 or 5770 would display the road textures in any driver versions. If it helps, I'm currently on driver version 12.6 and it works with my 7970. Edited August 19, 2012 by kevmscotland. If you want to run it normal bad enough, you could always get it for xbox. Hell, you could probably get both the game and the xbox for under $30.
But if you're fine playing with no roads, then it's better to save money. I love the Crown Vics in this game. They combined them just like GTA IV did with the Vapids.
The headlights and tailights look like a 98-11, the grille looks like a Mercury Gran Marquis, and the tallights are slightly modified. With the hazards, reverse, and brake lights all put together. The body looks like a 98-2011 Crown Vic. Edited August 20, 2012 by Original Light. This game brings back some good old memories lol, I loved playing it on the Playstation 2 that was the beginning of police role playing for me, same here xD i spend ages arresting dudes.
What i loved was the ability to put evidence on people if they didn't had anything on them lol. I always did that with black people (no just kiding xD) by doing that your 'bad cop' points where raising xD Also great: one time i was in one of those tourist shops where they sell those liberty statues and a guy with an Automatic weapon came in. I really miss those things in gta. Those random kind of events would make the game much better.
