Microsoft does not write the drivers for any third party hardware, which includes your USB 3.0 express card. Hardware drivers are the sole responsibility of the hardware or chip manufacturer. Your only other source would be the manufacturer of the USB 3.0 controller chip. Your problem cannot be corrected by Microsoft. It must be fixed by the hardware manufacturer or the chip manufacturer.

For me the driver Asmedia ASM1041/ASM1042 USB3 Controller Drivers Version 1.14.8.0 at has worked fine Thanks again for ur link. I have just bought one of these, it is a 3 port USB 3.0 expresscard. I already had Renesas drivers installed from a previous 2 port express card but the new AKE one would not work.
When reading through this thread I tried NEC drivers as well to no avail. With further investigation I found that some AKE express cards use Fresco logic chips. I managed to get drivers for it by searching 'Fresco logic drivers'. Once I had installed 'Fresco Logic USB 3.0 Host Driver' my device was recognized and my laptop now registers all devices plugged into it. Hope this helps. Yes an old link, but here is what I used. (05/2013 - I bought (2) AKE #BC618T - USB 3.0 Express Cards & the link for the driver on the seller's page lead me to here): The download file is named: dn0098. It is a RAR file. Can open with winRaR, 7zip, etc. The driver is for: renesas72020x3.0.20.2 After you unzip the file, to run the installation, you will click on: RENESAS-USB3-Host-Driver-30120-setup Installation should be fairly painless to execute.
I loaded this on a Windows Vista 32 bit laptop & it works. Should work with XP and Win 7 also per the seller's description. Good luck to all.
I cannot get an AKE 3-port USB3 express card adaptor to work in my HP Elitebook 8530w. The adaptor came without drivers when I bought it, which didn't worry me at first because I assumed Windows 7 would support it. I have identified the NEC and Renesas drivers as appropriate (although I believe they are in fact the same driver), and installed both.
I've installed the Asmedia USB3 Control Hub driver, which also seemed as if it might be useful. I have updated everything else I can using DriverUpdate, and my OS is fully up to date. Windows Action Center does not indicate any problems and there are no driver problems flagged in Device Manager. The express card port recognises other express card devices, so that does not seem to be the problem. Can anybody suggest what I could try next?
I'm not actually worried about USB3 as such, because I don't suppose the Elitebook has that capability, but I'd just like to get it working in USB2 mode. Keyboard Microsoft, PS/2, white.

In fact I've now tried several different driver scans without luck. I identified the NEC and Renesas drivers from information supplied in other forums. I'm reluctant to admit just yet that the cards are dead because I have two of them and they both don't work. However, other users on other forums have expressed satisfaction with them.

The minl CD with driver software was corrupted, so I had to acquire the driver from VIA's website. The driver software installed and the card is functional.
