The program is too early in development for a DEMO. We are very much considering putting together a demo when we will be closer to the official launch and we had time to polish more aspects of the program. You can try out the tracker tech if you are worried about glasses in the link to Visage Technologies tech posted in the product's about section.
The program is not done, when you pre-order you get access to the beta and you can play with it. But remember what you are using is the BETA, an in-development version.
A demo for the beta and all the legalities implied (remember we use external licensed software so we cannot randomly just do as we please) take time from actual development (we don't have business-only people on staff that can take care of the legals aspects of a demo, some of us have to take time off replying to mails and writing on forums, and actually developing the program each time we need to deal with the legal aspects. So that delays development and want to keep that to a minimum ). Our goal it not to make the most money possible off FaceRig now and sell tons of copies while it still has bugs.
We didn't even do any traditional marketing yet. We put the beta up because we knew we needed community feedback and help with bug testing to take the program further. We are very grateful for the folks who chose to join in early and help us during development. Our goal is to spend most resources in actual development and make the best possible product. Then we will worry about demos, marketing and such.
8 FaceRig is face motion tracking software that allows you to replace your face with that of a fox, a fairy, a demon, or any number of digital characters while on video calls with friends over, or other similar programs. Making chat more fun than ever What exactly is FaceRig you ask? Well, it is a facial recognition program that uses your webcam to track parts of your face which it then maps onto an avatar of your choice to animate it. The output can be played on Skype, Twitch, and other similar services. FaceRig does all of this in real-time letting your avatar move with you as you speak, mapping your voice and gestures. This is possible because FaceRig encodes the audio and video output from your camera and then acts as a virtual webcam which it relays to your video chat.
Among the possible avatars are monsters, animals, wizards, and a few licensed characters from games (such as ). If you wish to make it more realistic there are also human characters available! Thus, FaceRig allows you to chat in partially anonymity not showing your real face. Still developing FaceRig is currently still growing despite now being out of Beta. Occasionally it suffers some delay in synchronization between you and your onscreen image, and there are plenty of other small bugs. Despite this, there is clearly great potential for the program.
It promises to become a fun tool for all those who love to chat with their friends on PC. Currently FaceRig is only available through Steam and you have to have an account in order to download it.
