The chapter was fucking awful— Adrian wasn't even in character, as if some personality black hole came and sucked it out of him like a goddamn Dementor. Additionally, the inconsistencies were apparent— Mead doesn't even know her own characters or the information that she established about them initially. Adrian was said to be 22, but he was celebrating his 21st Birthday? She doesn't know details of a SECONDARY character. Also, what is Jill's real element? Is it water or air?

Please tell us, the world leaders are DYING to know and are on the edge of their seat, DESPERATE to find out.

Please, IT COULD SOLVE WORLD HUNGER AND ESTABLISH WORLD PEACE. And what is the need to even mention Rose and her Russian wanker? What do they add to the story— other than giving the rabid Rose/Dimitri stans an excuse to use their dildos and start masturbating— Mead needs to fucking stop it with the mentions of them in both Adrian's and Sydney's POV. They are irrelevant characters that add nothing to the plot, it's obvious that this lost chapter was a golden opportunity for her to fawn over how supah speshul they are.

Adrian would never describe them as 'wolves' or 'lions'— let alone go on about them for 3 fucking pages— especially seeing as they both fucked him over. I don't give a damn about them being aware (it's their fucking job to be aware, I'm not impressed) or them canoodling (can you believe they're not fucking like rabbits? It was a shocker!) or how happy that heifer is with that greasy haired git of hers. Also, I don't like Jill— she's so pathetic and bland.

I have no need for her to be an internal fangirl so she can wank over everyone and be all 'I'm a shrinking violet, teehee' and invite Adrian to a private Jill pity party so we can see what a poor baby she is. Give me a fucking break.gags. This fucking chapter was better off lost. I'd rather see Adrian dead than him moping about being a shell of his former self. Honestly, what exactly was the purpose of this chapter? To give us an insight of a highly lecherous pseudo relationship between Adrian and Jill? To make us hate the one true pairing that has finally made it in the book?

To make us angry and hate the awesome books written before that are the basics and sometimes the only reason I would even sacrifice ten minutes to read this? Note to the Author, I have adored your work in the past years. I have fallen in love with Dimitri, I have been with Rose fro Honestly, what exactly was the purpose of this chapter? I have fallen in love with Dimitri, I have been with Rose from the get-go, I made jokes and flirted with Adrian. But must you ruin the very books that opened your fan-base with this and the entire Bloodlines series. Sydney is a very weak character and she has been irritable at best. Yeah, she has been there to help Rose and Dimitri, but under blackmail. Also, for a racist bigot, she is also a bit of a hypocrite as she blatantly checks out Rose's then boyfriend, a Moroi. Adrian is an immature man who prefers to bury his head and thus political power, drink himself into oblivion and smoke his lungs to smithereens.

But he has grown a little. He has never worked for anything, never failed at anything except for Rose. And although Rose was a bitch for cheating, can you really completely blame her since we all read exactly what she was feeling and going through? But the point that really bugs me is that if Adrian is some badass aura reader, why couldn't he see how Rose's aura and Dimitri's matched like freaking trees and leaves.

And could he not have given Rose a grieving period after losing her love to evil and then killing him! This snippet was useless. I still feel nothing for the new main characters and I hope they have a good run. I think I'll just breeze through the books and read the parts with Rose and Dimitri. Please, when Succubus Series ends, can you create another beautiful world instead of trying to milk a completed series in my mind. Maybe two or three books could complete Adrian and Sydney's inevitable romance. But please, can you come up with something else.

Read, you are a good and engaging writer, but please don't sell out yourself. You should have left it alone.

Or changed the ending of Last Sacrifice to incorporate a change in Adrian's future that would lead him to happiness. Left it vague.

This was the original opening chapter for Bloodlines written in Adrian's POV that Richelle Mead ultimately scrapped and I have to ask.why? I prefer this opener for sure and am a little disappointed that we don't get more of Adrian and his brilliant-if not twisted mind.

Seriously, Richelle should do a Julie Kagawa and write an entire book in his POV! Great lost opener. Check it out! My heart is hurting. I want to cry for Adrian because he really loved Rose and now his heart is broken. I'm happy that Rose is with Dimitri, but I like Adrian too and he is suffering very much. I hope he will forget Rose and he will find the love in another place, maybe with Sydney.

Jill is cute too, but I don't think she will be with Adrian, even if she has feelings for him. Anyway, Adrian wants to protect her and Jill doesn't have a good life at all. I hope his heart will be cured someday. I cannot believe I didn't know about this scrapped chapter sooner. Having already read The Golden Lily (and loved it) this chapter contains no shockers or revelations for me. It simply reinforces my love for Adrian and my sadness at his life. I am convinced that Richelle Mead is a literary genius of the first degree. Were she writing in the dry and often depressing genre that timeless books like The Grapes of Wrath and Fahrenheit 451 share then I am sure that the general public would recognize this. Fortunately for me, she writes in my favorite genre and absolutely captivates me everytime.

We know Adrian from Rose's point of view: carefree, careless, lightweight. We know Adrian from Sydney's point of view: careless on the outside, deeply caring on the inside, and hurting to a degree that's insane. But with this short chapter, we see how others' perceptions factor in to who he really is. Being rich and powerful has spoiled him and made him ignore his great talents. Being a trophy of his parents' has made him resentful and lonely. Falling in love with the wrong girl has broken his heart and sent him tumbling back a few years in maturity. What a perfect time to meet Sydney Sage.

Reading this has made me realize how much I miss Mead's work and thirst(much like Adrian for scotch & blood) after Indigo Spell. This is only a chapter, so you can't really expect much. The top 2 reviews I read about this tore it up, and I don't really get it. Why is it so terrible? I thought it was decent. It's her style, and I think it helps, especially if you've waited months between books.

Rose (and ultimately Dimitri) are a huge part of what is making Adrian tick at this point in his life, so of course we have to hear about them some more. Plus, why are you complaining? They are great characters, and it's better than an epilogue when you get to see more of them in the new series. We know that Adrian is no angel, and we know that he has some serious issues with Rose and Dimitri. We also know about Jill's crush.

I personally like this little insight into his thoughts. It's not fair to get too judgmental on how terrible this is, because it's not complete. We may have gotten some really interesting insights into how Adrian grows as the book goes on, but the author obviously decided the story would be better told through Sydney's eyes. I liked this little chapter, and I think it would be interesting to see how it would have panned out if it went beyond the 1 chapter. Song of Myself By 1819-1892 1 I celebrate myself, and sing myself, And what I assume you shall assume, For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you. I loafe and invite my soul, I lean and loafe at my ease observing a spear of summer grass. My tongue, every atom of my blood, form'd from this soil, this air, Born here of parents born here from parents the same, and their parents the same, I, now thirty-seven years old in perfect health begin, Hoping to cease not till death. Creeds and schools in abeyance, Retiring back a while sufficed at what they are, but never forgotten, I harbor for good or bad, I permit to speak at every hazard, Nature without check with original energy. 2 Houses and rooms are full of perfumes, the shelves are crowded with perfumes, I breathe the fragrance myself and know it and like it, The distillation would intoxicate me also, but I shall not let it. The atmosphere is not a perfume, it has no taste of the distillation, it is odorless, It is for my mouth forever, I am in love with it, I will go to the bank by the wood and become undisguised and naked, I am mad for it to be in contact with me.
